This book is wonderful and inspiring for those who have cancer, are survivors, and for those of us who have, and support, cancer patients. It is true, that many successes are undocumented in Western medicine, and most people say they will try alternatives, but few do. At the same time, oncologists discourage combining naturopathic options because they believe whatever is done will interfere with chemotherapy, one of the most financially expensive treatments in medicine. Like Dr. Turner mentions, the doctors never ask what a patient is doing to improve their condition. Why?My uncle, in his 90's, has tracked family members who followed traditional Western medicine to deal with cancer, and those who combined traditional methods with a special tea. He eradicated his colon cancer quickly drinking 32 ounces of this tea, for which he has advocated, for over 40 years. The U.S. does not allow a Chemo sensitivity test to ensure the effectiveness of the recommended Chemo, before a patient starts chemotherapy. This is done in Europe, otherwise a patient can go through Chemo, suffer side effects, only to find it is ineffective. This book is just the tip of the iceberg.It is awesome to know that family and friends can offer more support, as outlined in this book, to loved ones given a cancer diagnosis. This is a great read if you or a loved one is battling cancer. I am following the recommendations and so far am beating the cancer back. My "non curable stage IV cancer" has stopped spreading. The tumor on my lung has shrunk significantly per my latest PET scan. This is over a three month period. No new tumors and my bone tumors have not progressed. I also highly recommend "The China Study" available here on Amazon.
This book gives good nutritional advice, at the beginning of the book. However throughout the book the question is asked of cancer patents, "Why do you think you got cancer ?". I think there are many lessons to be learned in the journey of battling cancer, but unfortunately science does not understand why some people get cancer and others don't. I was a bit uncomfortable to recommend this book because as I read this book, it appeared to insinuate that the cancer patient did something to get the cancer by asking them that very question. Lifestyle choices like diet choices, smoking, a sedentary lifestyle may increase your chances of getting cancer. However, in our family we learned that an active, fun loving, non smoker, health conscious vegetarian, can get a rare form of lung cancer called EGFR.I think increasing laughter in the cancer patient's life is important as the book recommended, and the advice to family and friends about maintaining the social circle of love and friendship are important as well. The book bring hope to the cancer patient, regarding radical remissions that do occur and are something you will not hear about from your oncologist.

However, if you are new to reaching outside the mainstream medical world view, and looking for hope when you have been told there is none, check this book out. It might open some doors for you.
